Frequently Asked Questions
-
A digital detox retreat is a chance to step away from phones, email, and constant notifications so your mind and body can fully reset. At Unplugged Travels, this means immersive time in nature, meaningful activities, and space to slow down without the usual digital noise.
-
Our retreats are designed to help you unplug as much as possible, but the experience is supportive rather than strict. While we do ask that you allow your devices to be held separately from your room during your stay, and we will never allow screen usage around other guests, the experience is ultimately yours to dive into as deeply as you’re able to.
-
Yes — our area is peaceful, quiet, and well-loved by travelers seeking nature and solitude. You’ll have a secure accommodation, an emergency contact plan, and on-call support so you always feel held. After settling in, guests report feeling safer here than anywhere else they’ve traveled in Costa Rica, and the quiet becomes deeply comforting rather than concerning.
-
Our group retreat is intentionally small and limited in availability - booking at least 3-6 months in advance is recommended. For Solo or Couples Retreats’ it’s best to reserve your stay at least 2 months in advance to secure your preferred dates, especially during the busiest months (Dec-April) in Costa Rica.
-
It’s completely normal to feel that way — nearly every guest arrives with the same hesitation. Within 24 hours, most describe feeling calmer, clearer, and surprisingly relieved. We guide you gently through the process so the experience feels supportive, not overwhelming.
-
Instead of rushing between tourist attractions, our experiences focus on slowing down and reconnecting with nature and yourself. Guests spend their days exploring waterfalls, practicing mindfulness, and enjoying peaceful jungle surroundings designed for rest and reflection.
-
Costa Rica’s Southern Zone offers incredible biodiversity, quiet jungle valleys, and easy access to waterfalls, beaches, and wildlife. The natural environment creates a peaceful backdrop that helps guests slow down and reconnect with themselves.
-
Costa Rica’s jungle climate is warm, humid, and alive — with occasional rain showers, bright sun, and cooling breezes. Trails and waterfalls may be muddy or flowing differently depending on the season, but this natural variability is part of the beauty. We’ll prepare you with realistic expectations so nothing catches you off guard.
